ringlunatic: (Dalek!bitch)
I think John Higgins secretly hates his fans and wants them to suffer.

Either way: YAY!
ringlunatic: (Art!DaVinci was a Trekkie)
So. Is it now the new Thing to start making sounds, pulling faces, smash random things when you play snooker? Because of the apparent "lack of characters in the game (except O'Sullivan)"?

I really wish people would stop saying that. Yes. There are loads of characters in snooker, not only O'Sullivan. Yes, snooker is fun even when O'Sullivan isn't playing (Dude. Did they even watch any of, for example, Stephen Hendry's matches???). The press about snooker annoys THE HELL out of me :/
ringlunatic: (FC!Mona Lisa)
I believe the words I'm looking for are "fuck you, snooker." So there.
ringlunatic: (Better than two legs)
(will edit this post when the video is online)

Oh, Stephen Hendry. I love you so much. I want you to win this entire championship really rather badly now.

What a fantastic 147! And to make it even better: it was against Murphy!

How perfect is that??? ♥♥♥

-.-.-.-.-

Didn't talk about the snooker yesterday, but I thought it was rather marvellous. Stephen Maguire won rather easily (although I didn't watch any of that) and I really didn't care who won the Higgins/Cope (13-12, finally a final decider!) & Neil/Ali (13-8) matches, cause I love all players involved.

Right now there is a 50% chance that a player I like will win the title. YAY!

(although my absolute favourite who I didn't want to mention before lost yesterday: Ali Carter)
ringlunatic: (FC!Mona Lisa)
OH GOD SNOOKER, OH GOD.

(I thought I just leave the house and when I come back it's done, but it isn't!)

ETA: Awwww (11-13). But not unexpected (I have never ANY faith in any of my favourites.) I think what bothers me more is that Murphy is through to the next round with a session to spare! BOO! HISS!
ringlunatic: (Sigur Rós)
I love Stephen Hendry. He played gorgeous. I hope he makes it really, really far.

Ryan Day, however, is being a wanker. How can you not allow Bond to win anything (yes, I know... its part of the game blah blah blah). Nigel Bond looks like the saddest person IN THE WORLD (and I keep thinking about [livejournal.com profile] jekesta's remark of him being some awesome leader for the youth)
ringlunatic: (Merlin!Bitch plz)
Dear Ronnie O'Sullivan & Mark Allen,

Really. The match has been nice so far, good breaks, etc. but would it physically hurt you guys to have one scrappy frame with awesome snookers, impossible pots, random kicks & lots of drama? Cause its turning into snoozeville at the moment.

Love,
Paulien

-

I love Stephen Hendry v Ding's match. Maybe that's why the O'Sullivan/Allen one annoys me a bit. I WANT SOME PROPER DRAMA, DAMMIT!
ringlunatic: (Skins!Cassie)
Snooker is strange today. I couldn't watch the afternoon session, but I had my parents all set to watch Higgins vs. Holt, cause it looked like it would be a great match. But Holt apparently did, what he always does aka loose his shit. Poor boy. I'm sure he could be really good, top 16, winning Things, but his head is just totally against him. He should have a chat with Ronnie sometimes.

Hendry vs. Ding however appears to have been amazing. 4-4! I wonder who will win this.

I love Jamie Burnett & Stephen Maguire.

Ronnie is being an idiot. What else is new...

ETA: WTF is Stephen doing with his cue ball?

ETA2: Ronnie is absolutely rubbish. Really, he should be relieved that the worst it can get is 3-5 at this point >:(

ETA3: I must confess that I'm really rather rubbish in the whole left and right thing. I never notice if anyone is left- or right-handed, unless somebody else points it out to me. However, the way Ronnie is currently switching hands while playing is really rather pretty. ♥ 4-4 means that Ronnie is one lucky bastard, though. Against a better man (sorry Allen) it would probably be a lot closer to 1-7/2-6

ETA4: Has Stephen lost the plot? Nevermind. He found it again ;)
ringlunatic: (Calvin!life)
I have the most boring and brain numbing class today, WHILE THERE IS SNOOKER ON. And not "just" snooker, but Higgins vs. Holt and Hendry vs. Ding! WHYYYY!?!?!

I really don't like the class. The final assignment is amazing, and I really love working on that, but the class itself? URGH! The teacher is just horrid, he does things with chairs that I'm sure are forbidden in some countries, he keeps asking us things, doesn't get an answer and then says "well, you couldn't have known that anyway", and the list goes on.

As if today isn't already hard enough with Lost and a morning session of snooker!
ringlunatic: (Radiohead!Thom Yorke)
Is there something weird with what Stephen Maguire is wearing? I can't pinpoint it, but something appears to be off. He plays beautifully, though (favourite to win the title?)! ♥

I feel a bit for Jamie Burnett. Poor boy probably doesn't dare to move, with the whole investigation rubbish going on in the background (as if Stephen M. would do such a silly thing!)

Holt/Higgins promises to be an entertaining match! They play their final session tomorrow morning, I hope? Else I wouldn't be able to see it :(

Steve Davis makes me a bit sad. I hope he returns next year, I think Steve is awesome!

ETA: it's a strange tournament so far. Everyone (okay, okay, maybe not "everyone") has been on a 147 so far (and everybody fails at some point under 100)

ETA2: Oh, Stephen Maguire! I love how you get so annoyed when you miss (while being miles in front) and then sit down (and pout) in Ryan Days chair! ♥♥♥

ETA3: Stephen, stop being adorable! Now they are giggling over something (wouldn't it be awesome if they would be taking about something COMPLETELY different than snooker?)
ringlunatic: (Fashion!queen)
Finally a bit of a surprise at Sheffield with a qualifier going through. And double YAY for it being the lovely Jamie Cope. I want some more surprises, people! (although, Neil, John and Stephen M.? Ignore everything I just said!)

Also, Andrew Higginson. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! Although they are going to whine for ages about the fact that Murphy apparently has the flu.

(Poor Liang Wenbo for not getting through :()
ringlunatic: (Gorillaz!Jamie/Damon)
Stephen Hendry vs. Mark Williams (4-5)

Final session of the World Championship for one of them tonight. How the hell can that happen?

- Ah, Stephen makes me so sad, when he's all tiny & sad in his chair :(
- Seems to run of the balls is with Mark J.

Snooker is being painful to watch again.

- Oh, Stephen Hendry. You are so sweet! I loved how he first giggled a bit about the referee and Mark's cue-tip and then totally saved the day by suggesting to take a break early.

(meanwhile on the other table: GRAEME IS MAKING A COMEBACK! YES!)

- And Stephen levelled. Cause they clearly want to make this as devastating as possible
- OH GOD SNOOKER! I sort of want Mark to level again :(

Also, Stephen Fry loves snooker. Shouldn't be surprising, cause Stephen is awesome

- I barely dare to watch any more
- OH GOD STEPHEN HENDRY JUST WON (10-7). And the look on his face when he potted that last pink? And Mark?!? They clearly both need hugs. Lots of them.

(Come on, Graeme!)

(YAY GRAEME! He did his animal scream of joy. I'm so pleased he won his first match! Poor boy deserves some good fortune)
ringlunatic: (Blur!Damon)
Stephen Hendry plays Mark Williams in the first round. There clearly is no fairness in the world.

Also, livescoring at Globalsnooker sucks ever since they 'modernized' the website. WHY? I liked it old, wanky looking and working. Instead of this ugly, static, way too slow new version >:(

- Hendry is on a 147! This clearly means that it's going to happen at some point this tournament, right?

- I can't believe it's 4-5! It should be 9-9 and then someone will jump up and tell us that they are both through to the next round. Yes.
ringlunatic: (TMB!weather)
SNOOKER HAS STARTED!

- Ronnie cut his hair again, so he's no longer The Hair.
- I love Rory McLeod. I hope he wins.

(I really need to leave the house at some point today. BOOH!)

ETA (cause I have a heart hidden somewhere ;)):
- Ronnie seems to be REALLY up for it
- Bloody hell, 20 minutes played 2 frames done and over with (140!)

Does anyone want me to spoiler-cut scores?

- It's really amusing how everybody goes ZOMG147 as soon as Ronnie posts two reds and two blacks XD
ringlunatic: (TMB!pool (but I pretend it's snooker!))
So. Fair warning to everyone (especially to those who are relatively new on my f-list). The world championship snooker starts tomorrow. Which basically means I will talk about snooker for 17 days and barely anything else.

Last year the player I've been actively rooting for since 1992 (although for all the wrong reasons back then, but I was 7 at the time and 7 year-old logic is The Best Thing Ever) won while I was unable to see it, cause I was in Tuscany the wanker. This year, I will be even more busy, but determined to see an awful lot of it (YAY for livestreams!).

Anyway. So yes. Snooker World Championship. YES!

(I don't do predictions, because a) I fail, and b) I curse them. However, I really really hope someone will win, who is not the already mentioned person)

I'm going to make myself a shiny chart of glee, so that I'm fully prepared for Teh Snooker!
ringlunatic: (TMB!pool (but I pretend it's snooker!))

(thank you [livejournal.com profile] snookerlynx)

ALI WON A THING!

(yes, caps are necessary).

Finally!

Awww, he's so happy with his ugly trophy *g*

ETA: my parents just entered my room Full of Squee to tell me that Ali had indeed just won A Thing :D
ringlunatic: (Blur!Damon)
Someone should go and give Ali a hug, yeah?

I should be writing two papers, but instead I'm watching snooker. Deadline for both papers is tomorrow, though. Oops? Probably should work really hard once the snooker is on a break (yeah, right...)

There was even a mention of snooker on a Dutch news website! (The Selby and the weird manager thing). I'm impressed.
ringlunatic: (Ronnie)
Ronnie won! And it was a really fun final (after it became clear that Ronnie won ;)) and he was so happy that he won. YAY! Must have been because he was really tested and had to play well. This years Masters was really good. Seems like they all wanted to proof that 'snooker isn't dead'.

Anyway. YAY!
ringlunatic: (David Bowie)
Yesterday was filled with a fun party, my friends trying to hook me up with a cute boy, lots of wine and the complete lack of kissable girls.

Today is going to be filled with stress, panic, trying to type out 5,000 words of my research, dancing (just because!) and SNOOKER.

There will also be a Cunning Plan, namely typing a certain amount of words, before a certain time. Planner behind a cut to keep myself in place.

Cunning Plan )

ETA: Cunning plan is made of fail so far. I know myself, though, and in a little while I will just get the 'bug' and type like a maniac. So I'm not completely worried yet. Plus, Ronnie is playing snooker right now (well there is a break now, but you know...). Also, poor sweet Dott! :(
ringlunatic: (Chuck!Nerd Herd)
Day 7

1. Post about something that made you happy today even if it's just a small thing.
2. Do this everyday for a week without fail.

► Finishing my last paper of the year!
► Mid-season final of Chuck: how good was that?! Why isn't the Chuck fandom more active? I want fic, dammit!
► Buying pretty jewellery
► Having fantastic smelling and tasting tea, with a name I've never heard of
► Radiohead. Just, because.

Awww, last day of the optimism-meme. I've noticed that music really seems to make me happy. I've mentioned some band in every day-post

Also, Ali is never going to win a thing, is he? Seriously, the talent is all there, he plays wonderful and he just sort of freaks out or something when there might be the slight chance of winning a thing.
